If you are intending to renovate your kitchen this year, as many people are, then one of the most important factors is the worktops. Apart from any other consideration, your choice of worktops can make a massive difference to the appearance of your kitchen, and this is actually true even if you only install new worktops and leave everything else as it is.
Maybe you currently have laminate worktops in plain old white. All right, there is nothing wrong with white, but you have to admit that it is not exactly exciting. When you start to take a look at all of the different options for worktops you will begin to see what we mean.
This is especially true in the case of natural stone. Those such as granite, marble, sandstone, quartzite, limestone, and so on, have been formed over millions of years, and the range of colours and patterns is almost infinite because the actual finish will depend upon what other minerals were present when the stone was first formed all those years ago. Indeed, when you have a natural stone, it will be unique for that very reason.
Marble Is Extremely Popular
One of the most popular stones that we have requests for at Marble & Granite is marble. (All right, our name is a bit of a giveaway(!), but it’s true). There is nothing quite like the incredible depth of shine on a polished marble worktop. It is the same stone that was used to construct the Taj Mahal in 1632. Many people consider that it beats any other stone hands down, which is why we are so often asked for marble worktops in London.
One thing to note is that marble is a relatively soft rock, if indeed a rock can be said to be soft. That means that it does need a certain amount of care, but that goes for many other kitchen worktop surfaces such as wood, for instance. It is also subject to stains if spills occur, such as coffee, red wine, vinegar, and so on, but today that problem is solved by the use of modern-day sealants. As long as these are kept up to date there should be no issues.
Chefs absolutely love marble worktops because it is a very cold stone, so it is perfect for rolling out pastry or dough directly on the surface.
No two slabs of marble are the same, so come over to our premises in Hatfield and browse the amazing colours and patterns from which you can choose.
