At Marble & Granite we started out in life as a small business in Hertford and over the years have grown much larger, which resulted in our needing much more space. As a result, we moved, and now operate from our showroom and factory on the Great North Road in Hatfield.
We source only the very best materials both in the UK and overseas, and we have formed partnerships with some of the major suppliers of both natural and engineered stones. We have an in-house design team who will work with you to design the kitchen of your dreams whether using natural stones or man-made, and our stone masons’ skills are second to none.

Quite a lot of what we do is design and produce stone worktops for our customers’ kitchens, and we can produce them in marble, granite, quartzite, quartz, limestone, sandstone, and a range of sintered (man-made) stones such as Dekton, Lapitec, Neolith, Marazzi, Florim, and so on.
Many of our customer choose granite for their worktops because it is such a hard and durable stone and is available in a wide choice of colours such as blues, reds, black, white, grey, green, and with wonderful veining and patterns contained in them. As a natural stone, every single slab of granite is different from the next one so when you have a granite worktop or splashback you know that your kitchen will be unique.
Granite worktops can withstand a lot of punishment, which is what you need in a worktop, and they are factory sealed so that you don’t have to worry about spills or staining, although as with all worktops you should wipe up any spills as soon as they are seen. This also makes them totally resistant to bacteria which is what you want when you are using them for food preparation.
Granite is so hardwearing that you can use it in any situation, including outdoors for patios and barbecue stations. It is also very easy to keep clean, needing nothing more than a wipe over with a cloth and possibly some detergent, or in case of flooring, a mop.
Marble Is Another Popular Choice
Another very popular choice for kitchen worktops in London is marble. Treasured for its’ amazing sheen, marble comes in a wide choice of colours including white, green, grey, blue, and brown, and also has intricate veining and patterns that are caused by the minerals that were present when the stone was formed. Every slab of marble is different, and the standard finish is highly polished, although it can be sandblasted, flamed, or leather finished.
Marble is especially popular for use in bathrooms for vanities, bath surrounds, flooring, and walls as well. It is a fairly soft stone, so when used for kitchen worktops it will need sealing in order to prevent staining.
Quartz is another option for kitchen worktops and has the benefit of never needing to be sealed because it is totally non-porous. It consists of about 93% natural quartz which is ground down and mixed with resins and pigments to produce a work surface which can withstand the rigours of kitchen life.
