CARE & MAINTENANCE OF QUARTZ KITCHEN WORKTOPS & SURFACES

Engineered quartz kitchen worktops, bathroom vanities, bath surrounds, tiles, fireplace surrounds, tables are virtually maintenance free and can be cleaned with extreme ease.

For routine cleaning and to wipe off spills, use a soft, damp cloth or paper towel and a small amount of mild soap. Once clean, rinse and dry the surface thoroughly.

Honed finishes are more susceptible to grease, food colouring, coffee, tea and red wine than polished surfaces. Spills must be wiped up immediately from a honed quartz worktops and such surfaces may require extra care during routine cleaning.

Quartz surfaces are made from pure natural quartz, one of the hardest materials in nature, which is an assurance that such kitchen worktops will not scratch and chip easily. However, avoid using sharp objects directly on the surface and don’t let heavy objects bang against the edges. Always use a chopping board and keep your heavy pots and pans away from the edges, especially when emptying or loading the dishwasher.

To maintain the natural beauty of the quartz kitchen worktop, do not place hot skillets, roasting pans or any hot object directly onto the surface. Always use a trivet or a heat-resistant silicone countertop protector.

Continuous long-term exposure to direct sunlight (UV rays) may result in slight discolouration of quartz countertops and quartz products. Only exception from this are ranges which are specifically designed for outdoor use.

NOTE OF CAUTION

• Do not use steel wool, putty knife or any other sharp, metal object to clean quartz stone surfaces.
• Repetitive use of abrasive scrub/cleaners may dull the surface of polished quartz worktops.
• Oily soaps, film-forming products (waxes, oil- and water-repellents) must be kept away from quartz stone surfaces. Cleaning products containing such agents will leave a residue on the quartz stone and dull its surface.
• Use of oven/grill cleaner may discolour quartz kitchen worktops and should be avoided.
• Avoid exposing quartz stone surfaces to chemicals and solvents, especially paint removers or furniture strippers containing trichlorethane or methylene chloride.
• Under no circumstances use hydrofluoric acid, caustic soda, or products with a pH greater than 11, to clean your quartz stone worktop.

• Do not pull or drag kitchenware, pans and appliances on the quartz countertop.
• Do not stand or kneel on any part of the work surface. Weight or pressure applied especially to vulnerable areas such as around sinks and hobs where the stone is quite narrow can cause breakage.
• Do not overload, or store heavy objects on the work surface.
• Do not let blunt objects to fall on the work surfaces, these can create cracks that will be difficult or impossible to repair.
• Engineered quartz stone products must be kept away from naked flame.
• After installation quartz stone worktops, vanities, fireplaces and any other stone work must be covered and protected at all times while other trades are still carrying out works on site.
